Happy Holidays

Good rehearsal and turn out for the bands last rehearsal for the year.

After Saturday's parade at Bollingbroke, we'll break for Christmas. Take a look at next years competition tunes. They're on our site. Mark your calendar for 20 December. I thought an easy christmas party at the Gunn house would be fun. I'll send info out on an email.

It's been a great year. The band is growing strong, new students are coming along, we've come a long way in a very short time. Wait til they see us next year. Let's make the band the biggest and best yet. Ask out a friend, piper or drummer to be, and those thought-to-be retired pipers and drummers. I want to grow twice as large next year, and that's a good problem to have. Thanks for all your commitment to the band!!!

When we get back together, let's get into business mode right at 7pm. So, come a little early to grin and shake, because we're going to hit the competition set good, so be ready on practice chanters that Thursday. Remember to ask a friend or invite an old band member back. Scott

Pipe Major Change

I'm expecting great things from the Mercer University pipes and drums. I see so much talent and enthusiasm among the members that this organization can only grow bigger and better.
I was nominated to the position of Pipe Major on June 11 2009, and I want to thank the former Pipe Major, Shirley Blunk for not only keeping the band moving during her leadership, but recognizing that I would be a good match for the band and eventually her predacessor. The band is doing good things and we shouldn't limit our ideas for change. I want membership in the band to be rewarding musically and keep the brotherhood of the members a must. Trust I have the best interest of the organization in mind and remember, no one person can build the band I see us becoming. I prefer the band to move at the speed of many, rather than just one, so with everyone's help I'm confident we'll see growth and even greater accomplishments. Scott
